David’s particular area of expertise is representing victims of asbestos related diseases, particularly the most serious malignant cases of mesothelioma and asbestos related lung cancer.

He has successfully represented over 1000 clients with the whole range of asbestos-related disease claims from pleural plaques to asbestosis and mesothelioma. He has 15 years of experience in representing only claimants in asbestos compensation litigation cases.

David’s career in law began in the Civil Appeals Division of the Court of Appeal where he spent 10 years before qualifying with Irwin Mitchell where he worked for 11 years before joining John Pickering and Partners in December 2012. He moved to Slater and Gordon following a merger in November 2013, and headed the industrial disease team in Sheffield until moving to work as a consultant with Asbestos Claims Lawyers at Hemingways Solicitors.

He obtained his law degree through the University of London and his LPC with BPP Law School in London. He is also an APIL Senior Litigator (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers).

“I was David’s Senior Partner at Slater and Gordon between December 2013 and December 2015. I have been a disease and employer’s liability lawyer for 30 years. I have written on industrial disease cases for Kemp and Kemp Practice and Procedure, and on employers’ liability for the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers’ Practice and Procedure textbook. In that context, I assess David as a very capable PI lawyer, a first rate specialist in disease claims and an exceptional asbestos lawyer. Whilst I believe my knowledge of disease claims is on a par with David’s, his technical knowledge of asbestos claims is far beyond my own. His knowledge of asbestos litigation is through and impressive. Additionally, he has a mature and genuine ability to gain the trust of clients and is diligently attentive to their interests. In the lead up to, and following, my departure from Slater and Gordon David took over some of my cases. The glowing feedback I received from former clients was very comforting. In conclusion, my “litmus test” to discern whether someone is a good lawyer is to ask “would I refer the case of a member of my family to that person?” In David’s case the answer is an unconditional “yes”.”
